You are entering a website dedicated to the early Bulgarian recording industry. This website is the result of research I did in Bulgaria in 1990, thanks to a generous grant by the Fulbright Commission. Click on the tabs above to read about the history of the industry, to see the rich and varied graphics of the labels, dust jackets and advertisements, and to listen to examples of these old recordings.

Interviews with some of the performers will be added, together with biographical data and pictures of the singers and musicians who had an active role in the commercial recording industry in Bulgaria from the turn of the century on.

This website will be continuously updated, and a new feature, which is coming soon, is a Podcast called "Song of the Crooked Dance Presents - Lost Bulgarian 78s - a podcast series". And, lastly, if you are so inclined to support my efforts to preserve and present this wonderful material, you can purchase a copy of CDs of re-issued records.
